Q: The speakers were found at Bed, Bath and Beyond. They had a monkey, dog and pig. You plugged you ipod into the jack and could put the ipod into a little pocket. It looked like the animals had earphones on but they were actually the speakers.

Even during the recession, hotel building and renovation remained relatively strong in Fairfield County. During the past few years, the Stamford Marriott Hotel & Spa was renovated, the Courtyard by Marriott opened as a rare high-rise in its class in downtown Stamford, the Holiday Inn on Main Street in Stamford became the Stamford Sheraton, and the Stamford Plaza and Conference Center on Summer Street had an extreme makeover with one part as a Holiday Inn Express, which recently opened, and the Crowne Plaza, which will open later this year. But lesser known names have been changing the landscape. Stamford also opened two boutique hotels, and zoning has been approved for more in the South End. Greenwich, which had two boutique hotels, is adding a third.
