Lowes Glass Cutting

Q: I have some microscope glass slides that I want to cut into a shorter length. I bought a nice, little, glass cutter for Lowes, but these slides a very brittle. How can I cut the slides, without them breaking to odd shapes that I dont want?? thanks


A: I think you will have to get a diamond point glass scorer to work with the thin glass. But I know you will have to lay the glass on a very flat clean surface - another heavier piece of glass works - and scribe smoothly, then pick it up and snap it on

Doug Cox can't recall a time when he wasn't a St. Louis Cardinals fan. And many residents of Dexter can't recall a time when Cox was not busy doing for others.

Cox is well known supporting a number of causes in Stoddard County by donating his services at the grill. Where there is a charity meat sale, Doug Cox is the one that can be found among the charcoal. He and his wife, Susan, have been at the forefront of numerous fundraising campaigns that have benefited a variety of causes, often dealing with families who are dealing with the financial challenges of a child's medical diagnosis.

"I've always wanted to do something for a good cause that could be tied in with my love of baseball," Cox explained recently. "With the help of one of the all-time baseball greats, I think we're about to do that."

That "all-time great" is none other than former St. Louis Cardinals shortstop and Hall-of-Famer Ozzie Smith.
