Even though mirrors are a great addition to any child’s room, I often find that these accessories are often left out of the nursery design scheme. Mirrors function well in smaller spaces because they reflect light creating a greater sense of depth and making the space appear larger. The reflection of light also brightens darker spaces, so adding a mirror to a dim area has benefits too. With the goal of getting Kingston families off their couches and onto their bikes, Cycle Kingston is launching a series of fun and informative workshops this summer.
“We would like to encourage Kingston families to put down their remote control, and get outside and spend some quality time together, having fun and getting some exercise” According to Hal Cain, Chair of Cycle Kingston “The workshops we’re holding are hopefully a stepping stone to making cycling a regular part of their family recreation”
Led by qualified instructors, the three-hour workshops are geared for kids and adults alike. Topics will include how to properly fit and wear a helmet, how to dress for cycling, bike setup, rules of the road, a skills drills course, and a group ride through the neighbourhood. Funding for the workshops was provided through the City of Kingston & United Way Community Investment Fund, so there is no cost to participants.
Families will have many options as to when and where to attend. Workshops will be held at three different locations in the city; Memorial Centre downtown, Wally Elmer in the Northeast, and Centre 70 in the west-end. Workshops are being held various Saturdays and Sundays throughout the summer.
